Mt. Fuji is only famous abroad, but there are other great mountains here, which we would like to show you.
Japanese main trekking route is usually up and down hill and finally to the summit. And go along the ridge from one to another peak, which is also very fun.

They have very great and unique view from their summit and some of them are faithful. Some of the route have rocks, steep slopes and you sometimes have to get over by equipped ropes or chains.
Elevation is generally from 700 to 1500M.
Gondola is rarely available, so your physical strength is only reliable and it takes at least 6-7 hours trip and at longest 3days trip depending on mountains and routes. So check your mountain, route, schedule, gears and stamina before trekking.

Do you remember Nagano winter Olympic in 1998 ?
Nagano has a lot of 100 famous mountains which provide easy walking for several hours to professional climbing for several days. If you want several days' trip, you have to reserve hut in advance.

There are also a lot of easy trekking available near Tokyo.
The mountains near Tokyo give easy access and nice view point for Mt. Fuji.
If you have a little time to stay in a couple of days, the mountains in Yamanashi, Gumma, and Tochigi prefecture are very recommended.

Early Trekking and SPA !
You have to start trekking at very early morning after you stay at a car or hotel nearby.
Taxi is the easiest and most convenient transportation to the entrance of the route. Ask your hotel to call a taxi. You should also book a taxi for your return in advance and then taxi is waiting around your booking time.

If you want to see the great view clearly, you are recommend to arrive at the summit by at latest 10-11AM, otherwise mist blur your sight, which is caused by humid weather generally.
Some Japanese like to see sunrise from the top, so they start at midnight.
It is not recommended to start trekking in the afternoon, because you have to decend the route after sunset and likely lose your way.

Most trekkers go down back in the afternoon and enjoy taking a public bath nearby most of which is hot spring with very nice facility such as bubble, sauna, open-air bath and so on.
The fare is about 500-1000yen.
You should take towels with you. othrewise towels are available with extra charge.
